The incumbent is expected to communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, subordinates, vendors, customers, and the public, contribute to the daily workflow with regular and punctual attendance, and to be respectful and courteous in the conduct of this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Essential job functions include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.

Computer/Systems Security Responsibilities

  • Apply software security patches to operating systems and applications
  • Implement computer network security defenses
  • Assess a computer system's security vulnerabilities using appropriate resources
  • Use standard software tools to detect attempted security breaches of computer systems

Forensic Analyst/Specialist Responsibilities

  • Work with investigators to gather data and digital evidence onsite and in the lab
  • Conduct examinations of digital evidence and prepare evidence for trial
  • Write technical reports detailing how computer evidence was discovered and all steps taken during the retrieval process

Information Security Analyst / Data Security Analyst Responsibilities

  • Test existing security measures to ensure the integrity of the data, software, and systems
  • Reconcile findings from system assessments, audits, and vulnerability scans
  • Monitor, analyze, and solve security incidents
  • Analyze client systems, report on security and performance, and provide recommendations

IT Security, Risk, and Compliance Analyst Responsibilities

  • Develop and publish information security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines based on best practices and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate with IT staff to refine business impact analysis, business continuity, and disaster recovery procedures and documentation
  • Review control compliance on an ongoing basis
  • Develop strategy for ongoing controls and risk programs
  • Understand IT change processes
  • Deliver risk management, metrics, and reporting
  • Assist in review of security controls

Network Security Specialist Responsibilities

  • Work closely with IT staff to select and install firewalls and data encryption programs
  • Monitor networks for security breaches and analyze network traffic
  • Troubleshoot network performance issues
  • Provide network security guidance on critical vulnerabilities
  • Work with IT staff to maintain and adhere to business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Educate network users and other employees about computer and network security

Required Technical Competencies:

  1. Knowledge of computer hardware and software installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  2. Ability to maintain and monitor firewalls and other network defense technologies and detect abnormal behaviors.
  3. Knowledge of incident response procedures.
  4. Knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention systems, and ability to recognize attacks and network breaches.
  5. Proficiency in digital data gathering and analysis techniques, to include computers, networks, various operating systems, e-mail, and mobile devices.
  6. Knowledge of creating and maintaining case logs and generated case reports.
  7. Knowledge of complex technical IT and networking systems.
  8. Knowledge of malware and other threats.
  9. Proficiency in analyzing complex systems and security assessment/audit results.
  10. Familiarity with security policy frameworks and ability to apply appropriate framework.
  11. Understanding of security controls that protect an organization's systems and networks.
  12. Knowledge of general governance, compliance, and audit concepts.
  13. Ability to apply risk management principles, assessments, and metrics.
  14. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations that affect the organization.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education: College Degree in Computer Science or related field with emphasis on security in the absence of equivalent work experience.

Certification(s) Recommended: CISSP, CEH, CISA, GSEC, ECSA, GPEN, SSCP

Minimum Experience: Five years experience in a job involving security, network engineering or system analysis preferred.

Other Qualifications: Working knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, Cisco, Wireshark, Oracle, Terminal Services, Open SSL, Apache, Word, Excel, Windows NT, and Outlook, IPsec.

Familiar with HIPAA guidelines.

Mathematical skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

Ability to project a professional image and positive attitude in any work environment.

Ability to comply with privacy and confidentiality standards.

Ability to be flexible, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
